Elite Prostate offers a dual-coil option for optimal resolution and coverage. This includes an Endo coil, which is inserted into the rectum close to the prostate to provide very high resolution images of the prostate itself. Combined with this is a SENSE Cardiac surface coil, which gives good signal intensity from areas surrounding the prostate to provide more homogeneous signal of the whole pelvic area yielding excellent image quality and increased confidence. Depending on preferences, it’s also possible to use either coil alone. Elite Prostate also offers the full set of imaging capabilities required for prostate. This includes high-resolution, volumetric, T2 and dynamic T1 weighted imaging combined with functional assessment techniques such as DWI and spectroscopy.
Prostate ExamCards can also be downloaded from NetForum straight in to the MR scanner. DynaCAD for Prostate is a powerful MR image analysis system that complements the processing capabilities of the MR console. It offers powerful, easy-to-navigate MR analysis of large volumes of images. Color maps for dynamic contrast enhanced imaging data sets can be generated to provide clear visualization of changes in MR signal intensity. DynaCAD for Prostate also provides real-time interactive access to time-intensity curve data, and additional curve fits for improved evaluation of kinetic data. Images are automatically synchronized, and multi-planar-reconstructed and subtraction images are automatically generated for the reader. In addition, the combination of DynaCAD’s interventional planning software and the DynaTRIM (Trans-Rectal Interventional) MR guidance device offers accurate biopsy planning. |

MR-targeted prostate biopsies are far more accurate than TRUS biopsies. A TRUS biopsy randomly acquires 6 to 12 samples from different areas of the prostate and can sometimes completely miss a lesion. In contrast, with Philips’ Elite Prostate, high-resolution MR images are used to target the biopsy towards suspicious areas of the prostate. Not only does this reduce the amount of required samples, it greatly enhances the accuracy of prostate biopsies.
