A comprehensive solution
Ambient Experience is wonderfully suited to enhance your imaging suite and supporting areas. Yet it can also be employed just as successfully throughout the imaging department or even the entire institution.
Waiting area & preparation room
In many instances, the waiting area or preparation room offers the first glimpse of Ambient Experience. With staff guidance, patients are introduced to the concept and asked to select a theme before entering the exam room. The touchscreen tablet PC is friendly and accessible and gives patients, particularly children, the feeling of being an active participant in the process.
For pediatric settings we offer the KittenScanner, an educational tool used to explain how a scanner works. It’s a playful, engaging way to give young patients information about the scan. It prepares them for their own procedure and assists in reducing anxiety.
Examination room
Theme selection activates lighting, images and sound which in turn transforms the room right before the patient’s eyes. This feeling of control empowers the patient, instilling a sense of excitement – making them a partner in the healthcare process.
Even the architectural elements of the room contribute to patient and staff well-being. For example, integrated storage solutions and an open floor plan give the room a clean, uncluttered feel.
Control room
In Ambient Experience design, we can also incorporate the control room into our efforts. The room itself is ergonomically designed to facilitate workflow, improve throughput and maintain staff satisfaction. It is carefully integrated into the floor plan for optimum line of sight to the patient, to promote reassuring visual contact.
