Webinar Focuses on Value-Based Purchasing and The Hospital’s Bottom Line
Medicare is moving toward a value-based purchasing system that holds significant implications for hospitals throughout the U.S. That was the message from speakers at Philips Healthcare’s first in a series of webinars dedicated to helping customers navigate the changing healthcare landscape.
- Dr. Tom Valuck, Medical Officer and Senior Advisor at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Management, summarized Medicare’s current requirements for hospitals to report their performance on quality standards, as well as the agency’s goal to ultimately base a portion of a hospital’s reimbursement on how well it did in meeting the standards.
- Ann Edwards, director of the PricewaterhouseCoopers Health Industries Advisory Practice, offered strategic advise for hospitals on reporting their performance and on the ultimate move to pay for performance.
