Top U.S. hospitals choose Philips

A yearly distinction
Published annually for the last 15 years, the US News & World Reports: 2004 Best Hospitals report ranks U.S. medical centers in 17 specialties from cancer and heart disease to pediatrics and urology. They focus on three elements in determining their rankings:
Reputation – survey of board-certified AMA doctors
Mortality Ratio – measurement of the hospital’s ability to keep patient’s alive
Other care-related factors – assessment of nursing and patient services
The report states that, “Of all 6,012 U.S. medical centers, only 117, or fewer than 1 in 30, were of high enough quality to be ranked in even a single specialty this year. A mere 14 hospitals made the Honor Roll, a list reserved for centers with very high rankings in at least six specialties.”
