More detailed images, faster scans

Open MRI machines have been used for many years, but the Panorama is the first to offer a 1.0 Tesla field strength. "Tesla" and "field strength" refer to the power of the magnet inside the scanner. In the past, open MRI scanners had lower field strengths and produced lower quality images.

 

Coils are small devices used with MRI scanners to enhance the image quality for the part of the body being scanned. The coils used in cylindrical scanners can be confining, but the ones used with the Panorama don’t need to cover the entire anatomy, so are more comfortable.

 

The high-field performance means that your doctor can create clear, detailed images, and that you could actually spend less time in the scanner. The open coils ensure that you feel more comfortable and un-confined.
