HeartStart Data Messenger

HeartStart Data Messenger

Download and send defibrillator data where it needs to go

HeartStart Data Messenger software lets you download, store, and send Philips defibrillator data where it needs to go. It facilitates retrospective case review, as well as patient care decisions in the moment. Whether you are a workplace or public access defibrillation program manager, or part of a pre‐hospital emergency response system, Data Messenger helps simplify the processing of defibrillator cases. It is designed to promote a culture of continuous improvement.

Review defibrillator cases after the rescue

With Data Messenger, you can download patient case data from a Philips defibrillator, and:

  • View and print ECG and events
  • Save the case to a file
  • Forward it to your desired destinations; for example, your medical director, the patient’s cardiologist, or your EMS system’s electronic Patient Care Reporting software (ePCR).1
  • Erase the case from your defibrillator
  • Synchronize case times and defibrillator clock with your PC (HeartStart FR3 and MRx defibrillators)

Data Messenger can process cases under the control of your user in “manual mode”. Alternatively, it can simplify your responders’ job by processing cases automatically in the background, according to your pre‐configured preferences. Responders need not interact with software to manage cases.

Once your medical director receives a case from Data Messenger, they can analyze and annotate it in Philips Event Review or Event Review Pro Software and give timely, consistent feedback to responders while the response is still fresh in their minds. This may enable more effective training. They can also refine the response protocol.

Efficient batch processing of cases

HeartStart MRx monitor/defibrillator users can automatically download multiple HeartStart MRx Monitor/Defibrillator patient summaries at once via LAN and forward them all in one batch to either an Event Review Pro database or ePCR.

Facilitate emergency patient care decisions in the moment

HeartStart MRx monitor/defibrillator users can use Data Messenger to forward patient 12‐lead ECGs and vital sign data from their field PC to a hub address, which can be either the HeartStart Telemedicine System or HeartStart 12‐Lead Transfer Station. Using these systems, physicians can assist medics with care and patient destination decisions in the moment and hospital care providers can prepare for patient arrival.

Provide earliest presenting rhythm to physician

A cardiac arrest patient’s earliest recorded ECG may be useful to a physician during post-resuscitation care.2 With Data Messenger, you can email the first response AED’s recorded ECG to the physician as a PDF attachment.

1 Your ePCR developer must develop their application using the Philips Data Software Developer’s Kit (SDK). SDK support for FR3 is planned for a future version.

2 Note: an AED’s ECG recording is not of diagnostic resolution.
