Description:

This three-day course is directed toward the OB Ultrasound examination and sonographic evaluation of the non-gravid pelvis. Fetal measurements and the ultrasound appearance of fetal anomalies are included. AIUM guidelines are applied/followed for Quality Assurance purposes. Case studies are reviewed for common pathologies. Hands-on scanning reinforces the lecture.

 

Objectives:

At the completion of this course, the learner will be able to:

 

• Successfully complete the OB/GYN ultrasound examinations following correct patient preparation and procedure protocols.

• Identify and display appropriate normal anatomy and orientation in the ultrasound field of view.

• Demonstrate a working knowledge of the importance of quality assurance in ultrasound as described in the AIUM guidelines.

• Understand variations in scanning protocols for demonstration of pathologies in trans-abdominal examinations.

• Be able to develop mapping techniques to approach a variety of scanning situations.

• Be able to identify sources and research reference materials for additional information on OB/GYN ultrasound.
