Introduction to Abdominal Sonography - A Hands-On Course For Physicians and Sonographers

Objectives:

At the completion of the program the participant should be able to: Explain the basic fundamentals of ultrasound physics/instrumentation; Describe the abdominal cross-sectional anatomy, scan protocols and routine measurements; Identify normal imaging characteristics of the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, kidneys and abdominal vasculature; Discuss imaging characteristics of commonly seen pathology associated with the liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen kidneys, retroperitoneum, and vasculature; Describe scanning protocols and normal/abnormal characteristics for the evaluation of the thyroid, testicles, and appendix; Apply the information discussed in a clinical setting, under supervised conditions until an accepted level of proficiency has been achieved.
