Q: Can I use my HeartStart device in an emergency before I receive the replacement unit?

A: Your HeartStart HS1 can and should be used prior to replacement if it is needed in an emergency and you do not have another defibrillator. Lift the PULL handle on the pads cartridge to turn on the unit. If a shock is advised and the Shock button sticks, repeat firm button presses to try to activate it. If the button still does not work for any reason, follow the HeartStart's voice instructions to perform CPR until emergency personnel arrive, as specified in the Owner's Manual provided with your HeartStart.
