HeartStart Essentials - Program Components

Learn more:

Our four comprehensive HeartStart Essentials programs are comprised of the following components, with supplemental services also available. The specific services you receive will vary, depending on which program you select.

Getting Started

Training

Certified CPR/AED training is critical to help ensure a confident response to a sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) event. With HeartStart Essentials you can select from nationally recognized training options offered by the American Heart Association (AHA) and Medic First Aid, which we'll

coordinate for you.  In addition, you’ll receive access to web-based refresher training on the use of HeartStart AEDs.

Medical Direction
Medical oversight, required by most states, is provided by a network of licensed physicians who are experts in Basic Life Support (BLS) care and AED program protocols. Services include an initial prescription for each AED purchase, if necessary; annual review of your AED program, as requested; and 24-hour pager support for clinical non-emergencies.

Program Warranty & Product Indemnification
To help mitigate your organization’s risk, Philips provides a Program Warranty for some HeartStart Essentials Program customers, as well as standard Product Indemnification and a five-year product warranty for our HeartStart AEDs.

Everyday Needs

Program Management
To help ensure the success of your early defibrillation program, the HeartStart SMART Track web-based program management system will be used to regularly review your program data, including device model, serial number, location and warranty status; expiration dates of pads/cartridges and batteries; training dates; and site contact information.

Maintenance
Philips HeartStart AEDs automatically perform a series of daily, weekly, and monthly self-tests to help ensure readiness when SCA occurs. Our maintenance services offer additional assurance through on-location device inspections.

Service & Support

Customer Service
Experience the Philips legacy of exceptional customer service with your dedicated team of HeartStart Essentials specialists. You can rely on these experts to help provide the support you need for all of your program management needs.

Post-event Services
When you need it most, the comprehensive support you’ll receive after an SCA event response includes notifying your Medical Director, overnight shipping of a loaner device, a clinical review of the event by your Medical Director, replacement of the pads or cartridges used during the event, post-event counseling, and more.

Regulatory Support
State requirements for AED ownership and use vary dramatically. To help ensure your organization is in compliance with your state’s specific requirements, we provide web-based access to state AED regulatory summaries and statutes, as well as assistance with the registration of AEDs, if necessary.
