Philips is pleased to announce Guidelines 2005-compliance for all our AED and AED Trainer models.
Newly Purchased Devices
All Philips HeartStart AEDs and AED Trainers are now shipping from our Seattle, Washington facility compliant with Guidelines 2005. This includes the FR2+, FRx, and HS1 (OnSite and Home Defibrillator) AEDs and their Trainers. All models ship with a default configuration that reflects Guidelines 2005, including 2-minute CPR intervals, a single-shock protocol, and instructions to begin CPR without checking for signs of circulation. Those devices and Trainers that feature CPR Coaching now provide instructions for 5 cycles of CPR at compressions-to-breaths ratio of 30:2, beginning with compressions.
Updating Your Installed Devices to Guidelines 2005
If you own a HeartStart FR2+ version 1.6, it can be configured to comply with Guidelines 2005 now with a Training and Administration Pack. Change Shock Series to “1”, CPR Timer and NSA Timer to “2 minutes”, and CPR Prompts to “short”.
FR2/FR2+ versions 1.5 and lower can be configured to mostly comply with Guidelines 2005 via a Training and Administration Pack. They can be configured for 1 shock and 2 minutes of CPR. However, there is one non-compliant instruction advising you to check the patient for circulation prior to CPR after a no-shock decision.
Your installed FRx devices can comply with Guidelines 2005 if you do not need CPR Coaching, or if you prefer compressions-only CPR Coaching. If you do use CPR Coaching with compressions and breaths, your device should be updated for the new 30:2 compressions-to-breaths ratio, starting and ending with compressions.
Your installed HS1 (OnSite and Home) devices do not fully comply with Guidelines 2005.
For the above mentioned installed FR2/FR2+, FRx and HS1 devices, shipped prior to their Guidelines 2005-compliance, Philips offers Guidelines 2005 update programs. We are currently taking orders to update all such HeartStart AED models.
