With Avalon CTS, expectant mothers are untethered from the fetal monitors. Wearing the lightweight, cordless transducers, mothers-to-be can move about with more freedom and comfort, and even bathe while being continuously monitored. The system measures external fetal heart rate and movement, uterine activity and maternal ECG. It uses radio frequency (RF) technology to transmit information to a base station, Philips fetal monitors, and the OB TraceVue information management system. Information from Avalon can become part of a comprehensive overall patient record.

Untethered, mothers and care teams have greater freedom of movement during labor and more flexibility in choice of birthing positions.
Waterproof transducers can be used in the bath or shower. The transducers are also easy to clean and store.

Avalon transducers transmit fetal and maternal vital signs information to the base station and then to a networked fetal monitor. From there, data can be charted and stored automatically, using Philips’ OB TraceVue obstetrical data management system.
