Families of hospitalized infants experience a physical and emotional separation. Staff understanding of these unique needs can lessen stress and create ways to foster meaningful parental interactions during the hospital stay. This program focuses on practical ways to encourage parental involvement.

 

What you will learn:

 

  • How to identify procedural touch, comfort touch, and stress cues
  • How to promote family and maternal bonding
  • How to initiate strategies for effective hand containment, kangaroo care and infant abdominal massage techniques
  • How to implement practical modifications for caregiving to reduce stress and promote familial involvement

 

4.2 contact hours for nurses
