Philips and Bard developing EP navigation tools

The Heart Rhythm Society’s (HRS) 31st Annual Scientific Sessions in Denver, CO in May marks the first anniversary of our partnership with Bard to co-develop unique EP navigation and mapping tools. So far two products, XLink and Point Tagging, have been released as a result of this collaboration. Last year’s HRS meeting also saw the unveiling of the ElectroNav™ solution.

Point Tagging offers fast, cost-effective support for complex EP procedures

In many procedures, such as the treatment of drug-refractory recurrent symptomatic paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, the electrophysiologist may be more interested in catheter navigation and ablation than electrical mapping information. Realizing this, together with Bard, we recently announced an extension to EP navigator release 2: Point Tagging. Using a specific Bard diagnostic catheter, such as the Dynamic XT Deca, the physician can place tagging points on the endocardial surface of the EP navigator 3D anatomy. This provides a cost-effective and quick method to support complex EP procedures, as an alternative or complement to mapping. EP navigator release 2 with Point Tagging is available now for new and existing customers.

XLink integrates data across the EP Lab

To further integrate the EP Lab, the XLink data interface links the LabSystem PRO EP Recording System with our Xper Information Management Physiomonitoring 5 system. It enables EP clinical data to be imported into the Xper Physiomonitoring 5 system to create a comprehensive case report that includes all vitals, charting and EP data. The report can be reviewed on the Xper Physiomonitoring 5 system, and the data can all be exported to the hospital information system (H.I.S.) via standard HL7 data transfer.

ElectroNav™ demonstrated during EP navigator user meeting
At last year’s NACCME symposium, sponsored by grants from Philips and Bard, Dr. Pierre Jaïs from Bordeaux-Pessac, France, showed the audience the world’s first clinical cases using ElectroNav™, using the research software he was using at the time. During the EP navigator user meeting at this year’s HRS, Dr. Jaïs and Dr. Michael Orlov, from Boston, MA, will host an interactive session where they will present recent experiences from research cases. While the case is being shown on video, the physicians will be in the room to talk about them and answer questions.

The EP navigator user meeting is open to all Philips customers, whether they use our EP navigator or not. If you wish to receive an invitation, please contact your local Philips representative.
