What is the FullLife?

The FullLife is a full-face mask that is used to deliver positive airway pressure (PAP) in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) for patients weighing more than 66 pounds. It is an alternative to traditional full-face masks that is less intrusive and low profile. The FullLife mask comes complete with a cushion (sizes S, M, or L) and headgear.

How does it work?

The FullLife relies on a soft full-face cushion and a sure seal technology (SST) flap that gently seals around the nose and mouth of the patient. The cushion seal is supported by the chin support band and, to a lesser extent, the nose. By using the chin to support the mask seal, the FullLife reduces the pressure on the lower lip and nasal area, thereby giving a comfortable yet stable cushion support.

How does the FullLife compare to other full-face mask products?

Unlike most full-face mask products that use a forehead pad and arm, the FullLife relies on a chin support band to provide a soft foundation for the seal and to eliminate unnecessary nasal bridge irritation, pressure, or pulling. FullLife does not use a forehead pad or arm, which enables the patient to have a clear line of sight.

Are there any limitations on using the FullLife?

No, the FullLife can be used with all Respironics devices, including REMstar Systems with A-Flex, C-Flex, BiPAP Pro Systems with Bi-Flex, and REMstar Auto-CPAP systems.

What information comes with the FullLife?

The FullLife full-face mask includes a pictorial quick fitting guide and an instruction manual. Inserted in the instruction manual are a registration card, a replacement reminder card, and a reminder sticker that can help track and manage the mask replacement cycle. Additional information and instructions are included on this Web site.

Is it possible to read or watch TV with the FullLife?

Yes, the low-profile design of the FullLife makes it perfect for reading or watching television before going to sleep.

Is the FullLife quiet?

The exhalation ports located on front of the cushion make the FullLife exceptionally quiet. The ports are specifically designed to disperse air for a quiet flow of exhalation. Our trial participants were very impressed by the low level of noise created by the diffusion ports, particularly when compared to similar competitive products.

Will any plastic contact my face when I wear the FullLife mask?

No. Only the silicone cushion, headgear, and chin support band will contact your face when you are wearing the FullLife full-face mask. The FullLife mask is DEHP and latex free.

What are the numbers on the bottom of the FullLife mask?

The numbers that appear on the bottom of the FullLife mask represent the lot number that indicates the date of manufacture (YYMMDD). These numbers are used to track the product and allow for detailed user registration.

What are the numbers by the faceplate slots and headgear (1,2,3,4)?

The mask frame and headgear tabs are marked with numbers 1 through 4, indicating the order for adjusting the straps. The numbers also provide a visual indicator to show which headgear tab should be inserted into each slot.

Can I use standard CPAP tubing with the FullLife?

Yes, the interface is designed to work with standard 6-foot CPAP tubing. However, for best results with a lighter weight system, use our Performance Tubing (PN 1032907). Traditional tubing can sometimes pull on the mask, especially if the tubing falls off of the bed and the weight of the tubing pulls on the mask. Performance Tubing is 20% lighter than traditional tubing and is many times more flexible. It provides a more forgiving connection to the device, since it is less likely to apply pull or torque to the mask and disrupt the seal.

Can I direct the tubing over my head?

Yes. The swivel elbow located on the front of the interface can rotate to permit the tubing to be directed straight down, to the side, or over the head. The tubing is flexible enough to position it in whatever manner best fits sleeping preferences.

How often should I clean the FullLife?

Hand clean the mask following the instructions below prior to its first use. Thereafter, the mask and tubing must be cleaned daily for best results. The headgear should be cleaned weekly.

How should I clean the FullLife?

The user's manual included with the FullLife contains detailed cleaning instructions. Instructions also can be found on this Web site. Be sure to thoroughly clean the interface and cushion using a mild liquid dishwashing detergent (avoid using bleach, alcohol, strong household cleaners, and products using conditioners or moisturizers). Rinse thoroughly. Pat with a towel and air dry completely before use. Inspect all parts for damage or wear; replace if necessary.

The headgear should be cleaned weekly or as needed, either by hand or machine wash in the gentle cycle. Attach the tabs to the headgear straps so they do not latch onto other items in the laundry. Line dry the headgear.

Headgear

How do I know if the FullLife headgear is on correctly, particularly in the dark?

There are two easy ways to identify if the headgear is on correctly. First, feel the top strap. If the headgear is on properly, you will be able to feel the attachment tab on the right side of the top strap. Second, feel the center of the back strap. If the headgear is on properly, you will be able to feel the logo on the outside of the back strap.

What is the purpose of the two colors on the FullLife headgear and chin support band?

The black and blue colors help you to correctly attach the headgear and support band and enable you to quickly determine if they are assembled correctly. In addition, the different colors help you identify if any of the straps are twisted while you are wearing the interface. When worn properly, the black fabric rests against your skin and the blue fabric is visible on the outside.
