General
What is the EasyLife?
The EasyLife is a nasal mask that is used to deliver positive airway pressure (PAP) in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) for patients weighing more than 66 pounds. It is an alternative to traditional nasal masks with its dual-cushion design and patented Auto Seal technology.
How many sizes does it have?
The EasyLife mask comes complete with a cushion and headgear. It is available in five sizes—petite, small, medium, medium wide, and large.
How does it work?
With Auto Seal technology, the EasyLife nasal mask nearly eliminates the need for manual mask adjustments. Its innovative, lightweight design features a unique dual-cushion construction – the inner cushion creates an instant, self-adjusting seal, while the outer cushion provides comfortable support. The only manual steps necessary are intuitive headgear adjustments, making fitting as easy as possible.
How does the EasyLife compare to other nasal mask products?
Unlike most nasal mask products that use a forehead pad and arm, the EasyLife relies on its dual-cushion design to provide a soft foundation for the seal and support to virtually eliminate manual adjustments.
Are there any limitations to using the EasyLife?
No, the EasyLife can be used with all Philips Respironics devices, including REMstar systems with A-Flex, C-Flex, BiPAP Pro systems with Bi-Flex, and REMstar Auto-CPAP systems.
What information comes with the EasyLife?
The EasyLife nasal mask includes a pictorial quick fitting guide and an instruction manual. Inserted in the instruction manual are a registration card, a replacement reminder card, and a reminder sticker that can help track and manage the mask replacement cycle.
What are the numbers on the top of the EasyLife mask?
The numbers that appear on the top of the EasyLife mask indicate the date of manufacture (YYMMDD) and represent the lot number. These numbers are used to track the product and allow for detailed user registration.
Attaching/removing the cushion
How do I attach the EasyLife cushions?
| The EasyLife cushions must be attached in two steps. Place the blue flap of the inner seal cushion on the mask frame. Make sure that the blue flap completely covers the lip on the mask frame. If the lip is not completely covered, the mask may leak once assembled. Place the outer support cushion with tabs facing downward, around the inner seal cushion. Press gently until all three sides click into the mask frame. Gently tug on the cushions to make sure they are securely in place. Gently press the forehead pad into the forehead pad slot in the mask frame. |
How do I remove the EasyLife cushions?
| Pull outward and upward on the blue attachment tabs on each side of the outer support cushion until this cushion separates from the mask frame. Remove the outer support cushion. Remove the inner seal cushion, which has a blue flap. |
Fitting and adjusting the mask
How do I fit the EasyLife mask?
Tools are available on this Web site to help you fit and adjust the EasyLife mask. Please visit the "Finding the right fit" page for helpful video demonstrations. Also, you can read the fitting instructions in our sales aid.
Tubing management
Can I use standard CPAP tubing with the EasyLife?
Yes, the interface is designed to work with standard 6-foot CPAP tubing. A lighter-weight option is also available with our Performance Tubing (PN 1032907). Traditional tubing can sometimes pull on the mask, especially if the tubing falls off of the bed and the weight of the tubing pulls on the mask. Performance Tubing is 20% lighter than traditional tubing and is many times more flexible. It provides a more forgiving connection to the device, since it is less likely to apply pull or torque to the mask and disrupt the seal.
Can I direct the tubing over my head?
Yes. The swivel elbow located on the front of the interface can rotate to permit the tubing to be directed straight down, to the side, or over the head. The tubing is flexible enough to position it in whatever manner best fits sleeping preferences.
Cleaning
How should I clean the EasyLife?
The user’s manual included with the EasyLife contains detailed cleaning instructions. For single patient use, the mask and CPAP tubing should be cleaned daily. The headgear should be cleaned weekly, or as needed. The headgear does not need to be removed for daily cleaning. Hand wash in warm water with a mild liquid dish washing detergent. Do not use bleach, alcohol, or cleaning solutions containing alcohol. Do not use cleaners containing conditioners or moisturizers. Rinse thoroughly. Air dry completely before use. Inspect all parts for damage or wear; replace if necessary.
Additional questions
How often should I replace my mask?

Remember, depending on your insurance coverage, you can generally get a replacement mask every 3 to 6 months. You may have a deductible. Please check with your insurance carrier for details.
