Philips New PageWriter Trim Cardiographs:

"Our customers know Philips as an international company and with the new PageWriter Trim line, our products truly reflect that."
- Norbert Heinze, German Dealer Manager, Philips Medical Systems

Philips new line of cardiographs offers the flexibility and scalability necessary to provide unequaled access worldwide to one of the most common forms of diagnostic examination - the electrocardiogram (ECG). PageWriter Trim presents a host of significant new features designed to continue the Philips tradition of exceptional performance at a cost-effective price.

Why is this important?

A Fundamental Examination

The electrocardiogram, used to measure and record electrical activity of the heart, has been used for patient assessment for 100 years. The 12-lead electrocardiogram as we know it has been in use since the 1940's. Over time the ECG has come to be used in a wide variety of situations and may be considered one of the most pervasive diagnostic procedures today.

From hospital emergency room to private office, the ubiquitous cardiograph now acts as an initial diagnostic tool for everything from benchmarking during physical exams to confirmation of ischemia. Recent advancements in information distribution, disease therapy and patient management, demand that data recording and analysis reflect a more modern approach. The drive to develop a product that would produce the most effective, most practical ECG exam results for a globally diverse customer base was Philips rationale for one of the most sweeping product revitalizations in years.

The goal was simple: to provide tangible benefits to the widest possible patient base.

Global Focus

The new PageWriter Trim family of cardiograph products addresses the needs of the small to mid-sized healthcare institutions worldwide with three different models; Trim I, Trim II and Trim III.

From the affordable Trim I to the versatile Trim III, acquiring and sharing ECG data has never been easier.

Customer Driven Design

New patient data input options, digital ECG acquisition, full 12-lead real-time viewing and 'one button' ease-of-use operation are just some of the many new features available on the Trim line. And these features are no accident. "We went out around the world to customers of our cardiographs and asked them how they would improve the equipment," says product manager Peter Kotilainen. "This new design is truly a direct response to our customers requests."

German Dealer Manager, Norbert Heinze agrees, "German customers were asked what they would like to see in a new product - what's absolutely necessary - and Philips has been very responsive." He adds, "For instance, being able to simultaneous display and print results in the familiar 2 x 6 format is an essential requirement of this market and the new Trim product delivers."

Listening and responding to customer needs is the mandate of Philips design philosophy - providing the most patient friendly experience by streamlining and enhancing equipment functionality. Approaching this concept from a global perspective has allowed the new PageWriter cardiograph to meet the practice requirements of many different cultures. "The Trim product is the first Philips cardiograph product where part of the R&D took place in Asia/Pacific," points out Asia/Pacific Business Manager, Daniel Cho. "Specific features such as 'timed' ECG or the 'Master two-step model' now allow us to sell the units in Japan, the second largest cardiograph market in the world."
