The needle is then inserted in the breast. Only x and y co-ordinates are defined, the depth has to be confirmed with perpendicular views.

Biopsy attachment with shadow cross
 | Shadow cross attachment to be mounted on the tube head, used together with external collimator and a fenestrated co-ordinate plate. The patient remains compressed while the Radiologist defines the location of the lesion. The cross is set over the co-ordinates of the lesion and the needle is inserted at the centre of the cross. Only x and y coordinates are defined, and because the cross can be manipulated into the centre of the lesion the device is highly accurate.
