| A twist on reducing X-ray dose and contrast agent during interventions Philips XperSwing provides a unique twist on rotational angiography that reduces both X-ray dose and contrast agent loading for the patient according to a recent study*. This dual-axis rotational angiography system features a rotating C-arm that follows a curved trajectory on two axes at once, allowing all desired anatomical views to be imaged in a single run. What’s more, because it is possible to make very complex rotations with the XperSwing, the study* also showed that it’s easier to track the coronary arteries, which resulted in better images. |
Conventional, two-dimensional angiography moves the “C” arm either up and down or side to side along one axis. That means it may be necessary to make several acquisition runs in several positions to get all of the information required. XperSwing literally swings the “C” arm in a three-dimensional arc around the patient, which was shown to reduce the number of X-ray runs required in the study*.
