Ultrasound and Nerve Stimulation Techniques

 

Description:

This program is designed for regional anesthesia practitioners currently using or wishing to incorporate the use of ultrasound technology in the administering of regional nerve blocks. All clinical lectures will address aspects of ultrasound anatomy; performance of the block, ultrasound versus nerve stimulation verses both, local anesthetic choice, and dosing.

 

Objectives:

After participating in this educational activity, participant should have an understanding of:

  • Clinical aspects of ultrasound anatomy
  • Knowledge of the difference between ultrasound and nerve stimulator and the choice of local anesthetics and dosing in the administering of brachial plexus blocks, both above and below the clavicle, blocks of the abdomen, blocks of the lower extremities and paraspinal blocks.
  • An improved understanding of basic principles, knoboloby and sterility during ultrasound procedures as well as knowledge of billing, business plans and local anesthetic toxicity as these relate to ultrasound guided regional anesthesia.
