Description

X-ray Plain and Simple This is a fundamentals course in X-ray imaging. It describes in detail all of the fundamental components of a basic X-ray system: the Generator, X-ray Tube, Grids, Screen / Film Combination, Image Intensifier, and the TV Camera.

Radiation Safety (Study Content and Test)

This course is designed for the imaging professional who is directly, or indirectly involved with the Radiography environment. Within this course, many of the key components of radiation are addressed including: public perception and radiation damage.

Basics of Radiation Protection

Radiation protection is a basic yet serious consideration for all R.T.s. This refresher course begins with an introduction to cell radiosensitivity, which dictates how much radiation is absorbed (dose) and the cell’s response. Radiation exposure can create both short- and long-term effects varying in severity from mild nausea to cancer.

Patient Education and the Radiologic Technologist

Patient education is more critical today than ever before. It begins with the health care provider supplying information to patients to influence patients’ attitudes and behaviors and thus improve their health. As a practice, patient education requires skills and knowledge of theories and research; as a movement, its acceptance is relatively recent and still evolving.

Radiation Protection

In an era of digital imaging and advanced technology, the responsibility for radiation dose is shared by the physician who orders a study or treatment, the radiologic technologist who obtains the medical image or provides treatment and the facility that oversees the process.
