Our training lab in Cleveland, OH is equipped with 12 workstations and digitizers and can accommodate up to 12 students. All training is performed using the most recent software released by Philips Medical Systems.

Course Descriptions


Pinnacle3® Planning Course
Pre-requisites: Basic dosimetry skills.
Objectives: Designed for a Dosimetrist or a Physicist to learn basic Pinnacle3 functionality. The target individual for this class is the person who will be responsible as the primary planner in a Radiation Therapy Department. Topics will include all Pinnacle functionality; digitized contour planning "2D", all aspects of CT based planning, Brachytherapy, plan evaluation techniques, film scanner image import, and use of our P3MD product. Advanced features covered include image fusion, virtual simulation techniques, and the use of lasers in virtual and CT simulation. Daily lab time allows participants to practice skills and concepts that have been taught in class. The major emphasis of this course is on CT based external beam planning.
Credits: AAMD and ARRT Category A credits
Duration: Four and one-half days. Starting on Monday morning and ending Friday at noon Eastern Time.

Pinnacle3® Physics Course
Pre-requisites: Basic knowledge of beam data scanning and Radiation Therapy Physics.
Objectives: Designed for the physicist who will be responsible for the implementation of the Pinnacle system in a Radiation Therapy Department. Topics covered in this course include Beam Data Collection and entry into the system, modeling of the beam data, and quality assurance and commissioning of the machines. Lectures on the algorithms used for Pinnacle calculations, basic Unix and system maintenance are also given to better familiarize participants with the system and prepare them to be the system administrator in their department. CT based planning and Brachytherapy planning are covered for 1.5 days of the course.

Advanced Planning and IMRT
Pre-requisites: Six months experience using Pinnacle or approval from the instructor prior to being scheduled for class.
Objectives: Topics covered are advanced image fusion with CT, MRI, and PET scans, Brachytherapy, Stereotactic Radiosurgery, IMRT Forward Planning, IMRT Inverse Planning. The primary focus for this class is to familiarize customers with the advanced planning tools and techniques in released Pinnacle software.

Biomedical Engineering
Pre-requisites: Basic Unix skills (Solaris preferred) and an understanding of computer hardware and networking This course is designed for the Information Technology specialist, biomedical engineer or ADAC Field Service Engineer who will be tasked with configuring and supporting the Pinnacle system and its network interfaces. While basic Unix skills are required, a brief review is included in the course content.
Objectives: Topics covered in this class include configuration of the system, IP address manipulation, networking configuration (NIS, NFS and automount), printer connections and setup, SCSI device configuration and various Solaris commands/techniques.
Credits: 16 CEH's of Voice Credit upon program completion, Society of Nuclear Medicine

Objectives:

We will train two Dosimetrists, Physicists or Physicians on Planning functions in the system. Many customers like the on-site training to follow the training they have received in California as they feel it enhances skills taught in class and it is a way to customize your training to meet the specific needs of your department.

Pinnacle3® AcQSim3 Onsite Training
Pre-requisites: Pinnacle Planning Course is recommended prior to taking this course.
Objectives: This course is designed to work with the Physician, CT Simulation Technologist, as well as the Dosimetrist to ensure they understand all aspects of CT Simulation. Contouring, isocenter placement, implementation of laser shifts, and beam placement are emphasized during this training. CT Scanner training will be given during a separate training course that was purchased with the CT Scanner. (See details on CT Scanner Training below.) We will make every effort to try to schedule both trainings as close together as possible.
