Uniquely Philips

The planning of interventional procedures using breast MRI, can be difficult and error prone.

Time spent on the operator console doing post processing and analysis – in preparation for procedures such as biopsies or localization wire placement – may interrupt departmental workflow.

SOLUTION:

Philips MR systems, 1.0T, 1.5T and 3.0T

FEATURE:

DynaCAD digital imaging workstation with interventional planning

APPLICATION:

The DynaCAD digital imaging workstation employs an extensive set of computer-aided detection (CAD) tools for performing real-time image analysis and planning of interventional procedures.

When used with Philips SENSE breast coil and localization/biopsy devices, this comprehensive solution can greatly improve clinical confidence.

Time-saving workflow

The fully integrated DynaCAD interventional planning module assists by eliminating calculation and spatial orientation errors/corrections.

A simple menu driven interface automates many features:

  • Subtraction images are automatically generated to highlight areas of increased MRI signal
  • Automatic Diagnostic Setup (ADS) offers enhanced multi-modality viewing capabilities and study preparation for error-free image data processing
  • Individual maximum intensity projections (MIPs) for left and right breasts are automatically created
  • Automated 2D/3D image registration is used for correction of patient motion and creation of registered sub-volumes
  • Auto-search for the most suspicious regions of interest (ROIs) is based on radiologist-defined criteria

DynaCAD presents an on-screen visualization of any vacuum assisted biopsy devices or MRI compatible handheld instruments in use.  And it simplifies the interventional procedure via a graphical display of true lesion position and optimum needle trajectory.

Useful points of reference

DynaCAD’s ability to display images in any plane allows identification of structures in relation to the chest wall and other anatomy.

Its dual screen array provides a large, flexible workspace for simultaneous, synchronous viewing.

Compatible with all vacuum assisted biopsy (VAB) devices, the DynaCAD workstation and interventional planning tool takes what was once a difficult process, and makes it easy.

Before we acquired

DynaCAD, we were essentially doing our entire analysis on the MR console – just the single screen with small images.  So, the two large screens, combined with user-friendly tools, have certainly made my life much easier.  With DynaCAD and SENSE coils, we’re well equipped for breast MR applications.
