Virtual Colonoscopy is a way of imaging a colonoscopy noninvasively
 | Virtual colonoscopy is a computer software program that uses x-ray images to model an individual’s colon. The virtual colonoscopy derived from computed tomography (CT) images is a non-invasive technique of looking at the colon. The virtual colonoscopy package from Philips is designed to be easy for the physician to use and easy for the patient to experience. |
Features and benefits:
- Virtual colonoscopy
Philips offers the Perspective filet view – unfolds colon and displays it flat like a landscape over which the user can roll. Polyps can be hidden by the natural folds of the colon. Viewing the information in this perspective rather than as a tube is an easy way for physicians to find polyps. - Virtual colonoscopy Electronic Cleansing*
Residual liquids or fecal matter can lead to missed lesions. Using the Electronic Cleaning algorithm in the VC software can reduce the effect of these materials by “tagging” these materials via contrast-enhancement which then allows the user to automatically segment and subtract these residual materials. - Virtual Colonoscopy Computer Assisted Reader*
The CAR program automatically segments the colon, maps the centerline, finds suspected elevated tissue regions and, finally, reports them to the user to accept or reject. The entire process for a CT dataset with 500 overlapping slices takes just ten seconds, making it easy to incorporate into every day practice.
Note: CAR automatically displays maximum, minimum and volume measurements for segmented tissue regions.
