NATA & Philips Join Forces

Protect Hearts and Save Lives

Welcome NATA Members! As you may have heard, Philips HeartStart is now the official Automated External Defibrillator (AED) of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, a distinction shared by no other AED manufacturer. NATA Official Suppliers are accepted only after careful review and consideration, and we're proud to now team with the NATA to increase access to AEDs.

“As athletic trainers, we see firsthand how essential automated external defibrillators can be,” said NATA President Chuck Kimmel, ATC, a lecturer and injury clinic director at Appalachian State University. “When they’re available, AEDs can literally help save lives. For years we have advocated for AEDs to be available at all public venues, and we think an AED should be part of every athletic trainer’s standard emergency equipment…We are pleased that Philips Healthcare has joined us in our efforts to increase public safety and emergency preparedness.”

Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) can happen to anyone, including athletes of any age, at any time--often without warning. Studies show people who exercise are not immune. In fact, a person is at slightly greater risk for experiencing sudden cardiac arrest during and shortly after vigorous exercise.¹ That's why many health clubs, fitness centers, golf courses, ski resorts, and other sports venues have installed Philips HeartStart AEDs. HeartStart AEDs are designed to be easy to use and to maintain, and virtually anyone can be trained to operate them. And HeartStart AEDs are the number one portable defibrillator among airlines, in airports and in workplaces worldwide.²

In addition to innovative products, Philips offers a comprehensive AED program package. Philips HeartStart AED Services includes site assessment, program management, medical direction, staff training and a range of financing options, enabling you to create an effective, manageable and affordable resuscitation solution for your business.
