Anatomical and functional data
You strive for the most accurate clinical data, the right decisions about your patient’s condition, and the best course of treatment.
Our MR systems help visualize the presence and the extent of disease with outstanding anatomical imaging. It can help you define the boundaries of the tumor, and aids in clearly delineating target tissue from healthy surrounding tissue.
Philips’ SENSE technology, outstanding gradient linearity, field homogeneity, and a broad range of advanced coils deliver increased spatial resolution.
Philips’ MR systems also make functional information available in the clinical routine, without exposing the patient to contrast agent, radiation or radioactive isotopes.
DWIBS, for Diffusion Weighted whole body Imaging with Background body signal Suppression. This imaging technique represents a breakthrough for imaging possible lesions throughout the whole body. (See sidebar.)
With Philips’ SENSE technology, automated workflow with ExamCards and an easy script driven post processing, Spectroscopy becomes fast and easy as imaging and can provide viable functional information routinely.
A real time saver
Our MR systems can play a vital role in advancing your department’s ability to manage patients effectively and efficiently throughout the entire cancer care cycle.
- Open design makes patient positioning faster and easier, minimizing any concerns relating to claustrophobia
- Dedicated Exam Cards allow technologists to perform desired MR scan protocols at the touch of a button
Our Philips unique ‘SmartExam’ independently finds anatomical landmarks and automatically plans slices based on your preferences, making the one-mouse-click examination with consistent image quality a reality for everyone
Mobi Flex facilitates fast whole body imaging with flexible table movement parameters that compliment techniques such as STIR and DWIBS for better visualization of lesions – automated and easy to perform with ExamCards
Automatic DICOM image transfer simplifies data transfer to treatment planning systems
The MR NetForum community connects Philips users from around the globe in a virtual users meeting to share clinical experiences, learn from peers, and optimize results. Download ExamCards directly into your Philips MR system and immediately benefit from the experience of our most advanced users.
MR Simulation with Panorama R/T
Our revolutionary Panorama R/T overcomes traditional MR image distortion challenges. This radiation oncology option for the Panorama 1.0T includes:
Geometric distortion correction software
External laser positioning system
Oncology table top with indexing
Wide array of coils
Dedicated oncology imaging protocols.
The open gantry of Panorama 1.0T with the R/T option allows for patient positioning and scanning in treatment position with immobilization devices or supine inclined for breast imaging. Exact patient alignment is achieved with a flat and rigid oncology table top mimicking the LINAC table and a set of MR compatible immobilization devices.
To address the critical requirement for geometric accuracy, the Panorama 1.0T has a built in geometric distortion correction algorithm delivering a 3D MR data set suitable for radiation therapy planning. By using special imaging algorithms in conjunction with our Syntegra software, MR images from the Panorama 1.0T are fused with CT data. The result is more reliable tumor localization and simulation data.
Open MR, under the control of your department, guaranties images in correct patient positioning and improves workflow and efficiency.
Future Directions
This is a dynamic time for advances in MR and its role in Oncology is really unlimited. We’re exploring broader applications for MR including:
Uses in women's health such as breast cancer
Image guidance for needle biopsies
Interventional developments
Our MR performance is also contributing to growing interest in applications that involve functional MRI and spectroscopy to help identify possible diseases.
Our focus remains to bring you the benefits of our worldwide research and clinical experience in MR, making a positive impact on your department’s efficiency and your patient’s care.
